The issue of educated unemployment and the struggle for government jobs have become increasingly urgent in recent times. Addressing this reality with humor and drama, the upcoming Marathi feature film Columbus is set to hit theaters across Maharashtra on December 11. The makers recently unveiled the film’s official teaser poster across social media platforms.
The Plot
Set in a rural village in Western Maharashtra, Columbus revolves around Kailas—an educated young man who stands three feet tall. Kailas dreams of becoming a schoolteacher, but his ambitions stall due to recruitment freezes and the commercialization of the education sector.
Just as his prospects seem bleak, an unexpected and life-changing opportunity arrives straight from the United States. The film follows the chaotic, humorous, and emotional turning points in his life as a small-town youth navigates this sudden American dream.
