Mumbai, May 4 (Representative) – The Mahalakshmi Saras exhibition, initiated under the Umed campaign, has empowered numerous women economically. At Mahalakshmi Saras 2026, women entrepreneurs are not only showcasing handicrafts and products but are also presenting a rich spread of Maharashtra’s traditional cuisine, which has become a major attraction for food lovers.


All dishes prepared here are fresh and made using traditional methods. Each stall offers a glimpse into the specialty, taste, and culture of its respective district, making this event a unique culinary celebration for visitors.


Women entrepreneurs from various regions and districts such as Vidarbha, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra, Konkan, Thane, Sindhudurg, Hingoli, Gondia, Buldhana, Yavatmal, Beed, and Jalna have brought the authentic rustic (desi) flavors of their villages to the event.

Attractions for Non-Vegetarian Lovers

Popular dishes include Kolhapuri Tambda-Pandhra Rassa, Bhandara’s Kharda Mutton, Saoji Kaleji, Saoji Mundi-Paya, Varhadi Chicken from Buldhana, Saoji Mutton from Beed, Marathwada special Chicken Kantaki, and Fish Fry. Yavatmal’s special Crab Thali and Quail Thali are also major highlights. Stalls from Konkan are witnessing high demand for fish thalis featuring Surmai and Pomfret.

A Wide Variety of Vegetarian Delicacies

Vegetarian offerings such as Brinjal Bharta from Ahilyanagar, Kothimbir Bhakri, Jhunkha-Bhakar from Nandurbar, Moong Usal from Akola, Puran Poli from Chandrapur, and Dhule’s special Sev Bhaji are receiving an excellent response. The Vidarbha special thali includes traditional dishes like Khava Poli, Rodge, Basundi, Mande, Patodi Bhaji, and Varanga Khichdi. Pune special Shevgyachi Bhaji, Mande, and Patodi are also key attractions.

In addition, Kolhapuri Misal, Thalipeeth, Khapli wheat kheer, and Bhigwan special fish thali are also being appreciated by visitors. Among sweets, Ukadiche Modak and Khava Poli are popular, while a variety of ice creams are available considering the summer season.
