Mumbai, April 22: Uttar Mumbai MP and Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal today addressed members of the Kandivali Cooperative Industrial Estate Limited (KCIEL), outlining a strong roadmap for India’s economic growth anchored in self-reliance, quality, and global competitiveness.Interacting with entrepreneurs and MSME stakeholders, Goyal called upon industry to prioritise building resilient supply chains capable of withstanding disruptions.
He further highlighted that quality and packaging will define India’s success in international markets, stressing that products must not only be well-made but also well-presented to gain global acceptance.Calling for the creation of a strong “Brand India,” Goyal drew comparisons with globally trusted manufacturing standards, noting that just as countries like Switzerland, Japan, and Germany are associated with precision and reliability, India too must build a reputation where every “Made in India” product reflects trust and excellence.
The Minister underscored that achieving this vision requires a cultural shift towards quality in every aspect of life—from manufacturing processes to everyday practices like cleanliness, consistency, and attention to detail.Referring to the Government’s push for Ease of Doing Business through the Jan Vishwas Bills 1 & 2, Piyush Goyal invited stakeholders to identify and suggest additional areas that can be included under the Jan Vishwas framework to further reduce compliance burden and promote trust-based governance. He highlighted ongoing efforts with the Quality Council of India (QCI) to establish a robust ecosystem in industrial clusters like Kandivali, including testing infrastructure, certification support, and adoption of global best practices such as ZED, Lean, and Kaizen. Plans for Quality Cells, Centres of Excellence, and export-readiness support were also discussed.Goyal also emphasized that quality must extend beyond products to services, citing India’s strong hospitality sector and world-class cuisine, while stressing the need for consistency and standardization.Touching upon urban development, he noted that cities like Mumbai have immense potential for value creation through planned redevelopment, improved infrastructure, and better connectivity, which will further enhance economic efficiency. He also called for a balanced approach to growth, ensuring sustainability and environmental responsibility, especially in densely populated urban regions.Referring to the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goyal reiterated the importance of collective efforts in nation-building.
“If we focus on self-reliance, uphold the highest standards of quality, and build a strong Brand India, no power in the world can stop our nation from emerging as a global leader. Quality must become a way of life reflected in our products, services, and everyday actions. Together, with trust and a nation-first mindset, we can achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047,” said Piyush Goyal. The interaction concluded with a call to industry stakeholders to adopt a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration, positioning Mumbai and India as a global hub of high-quality manufacturing and services.
