The masterclass, hosted by filmmaker and entrepreneur Rohit Guptaa, serves as a deep dive into the “Attention War” currently being fought on social media platforms. Highlighting the surge in mobile viewing, the event introduced a new storytelling framework tailored for the micro-generation.
Masterclass Highlights & Technical Workshops As part of the intensive sessions, Vatsala Saxena conducted an exclusive workshop dedicated to the mechanics of micro-drama scriptwriting. She emphasized the critical need for hyper-compressed storytelling, demonstrating how to build impactful character arcs and dense emotional narrative beats within a strict 60-to-90-second constraint.
Following the narrative track, Sony’s Ishaan Singh led a specialized technical session on how to shoot and edit specifically for 9:16 frames. Singh walked creators through the spatial dynamics of vertical cinematography, focusing on portrait composition, blocking for narrow fields of view, and pacing edits to survive the high-speed “retention curve” of modern mobile users.
Engineering “Emotional Addiction” The session featured insights from industry experts, including filmmaker Priyarth Mukharjee, who argued that micro-drama editing is less about attention and more about “engineering emotional addiction.” In a world where a viewer can swipe away in less than three seconds, creators must master the science of the “Cold Hook” and the “Cliffhanger.”
