Pu. La. Deshpande’s ‘Batatyachi Chal’ Returns in a New Musical Avatar!

The chawl will sing again! Pu. La. Deshpande’s concept of ‘Ek Sangeetak’ from his timeless literary work ‘Batatyachi Chal’ is being brought to the stage in a brand-new musical format titled ‘Yaithe Chal Batatyachi’.

This grand Marathi musical features 21 artists and is presented as a two-act play with zero spoken prose dialogues. The premiere shows will take place soon, marking a unique musical experiment on the Marathi stage.

A Blend of Tradition and Today’s Language

P. L. Deshpande captured the humor, affection, struggles, warmth of relationships, and the lively chawl culture of the common man through his writing. Keeping the core soul of his work intact, this theatrical adaptation uses a fresh musical language that connects with today’s generation. Through songs, music, and a multi-character stage performance, the heartwarming and entertaining life of the chawl will unfold on stage.
