Amidst the ever-soaring excitement for the much-awaited Tumbbad 2, Sohum Shah has revived the nostalgia attached to Tumbbad by sharing pictures of the waada where the original film was shot. The iconic front door is visible, with Sohum sitting on the stairs and posing, taking fans on a nostalgic trip down memory lane to the film’s first part.
The waada in Tumbbad was the epicentre of the storyline, where several major events in the film took place. Housing the Goddess’s womb, which was home to Hastar, the waada not only served as a significant setting for the plot but also carried historical importance. While the storyline of Tumbbad concluded at the same waada, it would now be exciting to see where the sequel picks up from, with Tumbbad 2 currently being made in full force and eagerly awaited by audiences.
Meanwhile, it is being heard that during a recce of the wada, the team came across the original aate ki gudiya moulds that had been used in the first film. The moulds had remained at the location since the original shoot, untouched over the years. The discovery comes at a significant point for the franchise, as Tumbbad 2 prepares to take the story forward while returning to the world that made the original film a cult favourite.

The 2018 film, starring Sohum Shah, developed a strong following over the years for its distinctive visual world, folklore-inspired storytelling and atmospheric treatment. Its 2024 theatrical re-release further introduced the film to a new generation of audiences and became a major success.
The sequel has already generated considerable anticipation with Nawazuddin Siddiqui joining the cast, followed by Alia Bhatt coming on board in a pivotal role. The casting announcement was made by actor-producer Sohum Shah in July, with the film bringing together Shah, Bhatt and Siddiqui in the next chapter of the franchise.
Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by actor-producer Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The film is directed by Adesh Prasad, who is helming the highly anticipated next chapter of the Tumbbad universe. Pen Studios, known for backing blockbuster films such as RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi, joins hands to bring the film to life on a grand cinematic scale. Tumbbad 2 is slated to release in cinemas on 3rd December 2027.
