The Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with Prasar Bharati, presents Kargha – Stories from the Loom, a docu-drama celebrating the state’s rich textile heritage. The first episode, featuring the exquisite Himroo weave, premiered at Bharat Tex on February 15, 2025 and is set to stream exclusively on WAVES OTT from February 20, 2025.

Kargha highlights Maharashtra’s iconic textiles—Paithani, Himroo, Karvat Kathi, Khana fabric, and Ghongadi—each reflecting a legacy of master craftsmanship.

The Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Sanjay Savkare inaugurated the series during the Maharashtra State Session at Bharat Tex.

“This initiative not only honors our traditional weaves but also uplifts the artisans who bring them to life,” said Shri Sanjay Savkare, Honorable Minister Of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra.

“Launching Kargha with Himroo, a fabric deeply embedded in our heritage, is a proud moment for Maharashtra.” He added.

Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, emphasized the project’s global reach, with Waves OTT streaming in 170+ countries. “This collaboration brings India’s textile legacy to a worldwide audience, paving the way for future partnerships,” he stated.

Through stunning visuals and compelling storytelling, Kargha showcases the artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of Maharashtra’s textiles, ensuring their legacy endures for generations.
