The 19th edition of Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will host a special series of filmmaking workshops featuring some of the most respected names from the Indian film and content industry. The workshops will be held from June 16 to June 20 between 4:15 PM and 5:45 PM, giving film students, aspiring creators and cinema lovers a chance to interact closely with industry experts.

The workshop series begins on June 16 with screenwriter Biplab Goswami, who wrote blockbuster Laapataa Ladies. His session will focus on screenwriting, storytelling and the process of developing memorable characters.

On June 17 and 18, the festival will spotlight two accomplished women professionals from fields that are often seen as male dominated. Cannes-winning cinematographer Modhura Palit will conduct a workshop on cinematography and visual storytelling, while veteran editor Deepa Bhatia will share insights into film editing and the craft behind shaping a story on screen.

Filmmaker Sanjeev Sivan will lead the June 19 session on filmmaking. Having directed more than 75 documentary films, Sivan is expected to share practical insights and experiences from his filmmaking journey.

The workshop series will conclude on June 20 with a session on Artificial Intelligence in content creation by Anand Pandey, known for projects like Krishna Aur Kans, Shaktimaan, Sammy and Raj and Boot Bandhu. The session will focus on how AI is influencing animation, storytelling and content creation.

Managing Director, NFDC, Prakash Magdum said, “This workshop series at MIFF is designed to give aspiring filmmakers and creators an opportunity to learn directly from experts who have shaped storytelling in our country. We wanted these sessions to feel open, inclusive and practical for anyone interested in the craft of filmmaking.”

The workshops are expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s MIFF, bringing together creative minds from across different areas of filmmaking and content creation. MIFF organised by NFDC under the aegis of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, held biennial is dedicated to Documentaries and short films.
