NFDC-NFAI to Host Special Screening of the National Award-Winning Film Madhyantara in Pune

The NFDC-National Film Archive of India (NFDC-NFAI) will hold a special screening and handover ceremony for Madhyantara, an acclaimed Kannada short film directed by Basti Dinesh Shenoy. The event, scheduled for April 11, 2025, will start at 6PM and mark the official deposit of the film’s negatives into the NFDC-NFAI archives, ensuring its long-term preservation.

Renowned filmmaker Basti Dinesh Shenoy will personally hand over the negatives of Madhyantara during the ceremony. Following the screening, he will engage with the audience in a Q&A session, sharing insights into the film’s making, his journey as a filmmaker, and the importance of film preservation.

Madhyantara has received prestigious recognition, including two National Awards at the 70th National Film Awards – Best Debut Director (Dinesh Shenoy) and Best Editor (Suresh Urs). The film is celebrated for its poignant storytelling and cinematic excellence, reinforcing the importance of archiving significant works in Indian cinema.

Basti Dinesh Shenoy, a seasoned filmmaker with over 27 years of experience, has made significant contributions to the industry in roles spanning cinematographer, producer, and director. His work includes key production credits in films like Swades, Jodha Akbar, and The Darjeeling Limited. His directorial vision in Madhyantara showcases a deep understanding of narrative and cinematic aesthetics, earning him the prestigious Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) for Best Debut Director (Non-feature category) at the National Film Awards.

The event will take place on April 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the main theatre of the NFDC-NFAI, Law College Road. The short film has a runtime of 36 minutes. Entry to the event is free and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
