Saas, Bahu Aur Sixes! Cricketers Spill Locker Room Secrets on Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show

Pranav Birje | Senior Correspondent

From saasu maa to jija ji, Team India gets a full family makeover — with Gambhir, Pant, Yuzi & Abhishek dishing the dirt (and the laughs) on Netflix, July 5_

Mumbai, 5th July 2025: The pitch is live and so are the punchlines! This week’s episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3 on Netflix is a full toss of cricket, chaos, and comedy, featuring Gautam Gambhir, Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal — four men, one couch, and absolutely no filter.

Things kick off with Rishabh Pant reflecting on the mood in the locker room during tight matches, _“In the locker room the situation depends on the game, it’s a little tense if the match goes up or down.”_ Gambhir — never one to miss a chance for a well-aimed sledge directs the answer to Kapil saying, _“Ye toh wohi baat hai, agar show acha na chal raha ho toh kaisi situation ho jaati hai, jo aapki situation hai, wohi meri situation hai! Agar team acha nahin karti toh sabse pehle coach bahar jaata hai, show acha nehin hoga toh sabse pehle aap bahar jaoge!”_
In true Kapil fashion, the episode takes a hilarious turn with a rapid-fire round that reimagines Team India as one big joint family. Asked who’s the jethani of the team — the one who bosses everyone around — Pant declares, _“Rohit bhai”_ (Rohit Sharma). As for the devrani, the one who gossips the most, Pant initially accuses everyone but eventually settles on Surya bhai (Suryakumar Yadav). When Siddhu jokes about the risk of spilling locker room secrets, Pant cheekily points to his safety net: _“Coach baithe hue hai.”_

Archana Puran Singh joins the roast, suggesting that Hardik Pandya could be the classic damad type — demanding. Kuldeep Yadav gets dubbed the phupha ji, thanks to his peevish demeanour, while jija ji — the team’s official complaint box — is unanimously awarded to Mohammed Shami. To which Gambhir adds, _“Jija do saal se ghar nehin aaya.”_ And who’s the saas of the team, always a little unhappy? Pant, grinning, says it’s Bumrah — _“he’s only a little happy when he takes a few wickets.”_

The episode doesn’t stop at family dynamics. Kapil throws in a gem of a question: what’s the difference in body language between scoring a century and getting out for a duck? Pant delivers with flair, _“Jo zero banake jata hai woh sochta hai doosre dressing room chale jaau, jo sau banata hai woh toh apne pe aa jata hai.”_ Gambhir fires back, _“Jo sau banata hai woh toh sochta hai ki hotel chala jaau taaki fielding na karni pade.”_

And when it comes to dropped catches, Yuzi sums up the team’s vibe best, _“Catch kisi se bhi drop ho sakti hai, easy bhi drop ho sakta hai… lekin jab sixer lagta hai toh camera aapke upar hi hota hai!”_ From one-liners to inside jokes, this episode brings cricket fans everything they didn’t know they needed.

Expect comedy, camaraderie, and with a side of Cricket — streaming July 5, only on Netflix.
