The collaboration is poised to enhance capacity, operational efficiency, and sustainability at DP World’s Terminal in Cochin
Cochin, India, 3rd November 2025: The DP World operated International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) to enhance the terminal’s cargo handling infrastructure. This strategic collaboration, supported by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, signifies another step towards transforming the state’s ports, shipping and logistics capabilities.


The MoU was exchanged in the august presence of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, between Shri B. Kasiviswanathan, Chairperson,  Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) and Rizwan Soomar, CEO & Managing Director, MENA and India Subcontinent, DP World, during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai.


Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate to develop advanced cargo handling facilities at Cochin Port, aligned with Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. This includes enhancing marine infrastructure to support future vessel requirements at DP World’s Terminal at Cochin, with support from the Government of India.
Rizwan Soomar, CEO & Managing Director, MENA and India Subcontinent, DP World, said: “Strengthening Kerala’s maritime infrastructure will support India’s vision of leadership in global trade. At DP World, we see Cochin Port Authority as a critical enabler of India’s trade and supply chain integration, and this MoU reinforces that vision.”


Shri B. Kasiviswanathan, Chairperson, Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), said: “This partnership with DP World marks a new chapter in Cochin Port’s modernisation and maritime capabilities. The proposed enhancement of ICTT’s infrastructure, enabling the berthing of large vessels, will unlock new opportunities for trade, logistics, and industrial growth.”
