Uttar Mumbai MP & Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s intervention Ensures Prompt Possession of Homes for 36 SRA Beneficiaries in Kandivali

• Beneficiaries receive house keys within days of submitting representation

Mumbai, March 20, 2026:

In a major relief for residents of Kandivali (West), intervention of Uttar Mumbai MP & Union Minister Piyush Goyal resulted in 36 eligible beneficiaries of Durga Sai SRA Cooperative Housing Society, getting possession of their homes promptly i.e. within 10 days of bringing the issue to local MP’s notice.

Despite completion of the SRA project and issuance of Occupation Certificates (OC), the beneficiaries had been awaiting allotment & possession of their entitled housing units.

About a week ago, a delegation of aggrieved residents visited the Kandivali office of Piyush Goyal and submitted a formal representation highlighting their long-pending grievance.

On learning about hardship faced by the residents due delay, Piyush Goyal directed authorities concerned to treat the matter as most urgent in view of the delay & hardship faced the residents and instructed to resolve issue on *top priority*. Uttar Mumbai MP’s office undertook regular follow up.

The SRA project comprises over 50+ beneficiaries, of which only 20 were allotted homes in Building No. 2 in 2022. The aggrieved 36 beneficiaries continued to await possession, even though rehabilitation buildings had received Occupation Certificates.

In line with the directions of Piyush Goyal, authorities took prompt action and the issue was resolved within days. All the 36 beneficiaries were handed over the keys to their homes.

Piyush Goyal has also instructed the senior officers to examine the reasons behind delay and to fix accountability, so that such issues do not recur.

*Residents’ Response*

“The wait of several years has finally come to an end. We are extremely happy to receive the keys to our homes. We sincerely thank Piyush Goyal ji for taking prompt action and ensuring justice for us,” said beneficiary Bhiva Navale.

Another resident, Vandana Lad, added,
“We had almost lost hope, but within days of approaching Piyush Goyal, our issue was resolved. We are truly grateful for his support and intervention.”
