Actor Parvathy Thiruvothu recently reflected on her evolving relationship with success, revealing why she’s no longer afraid of failure. In a candid conversation with Variety India, the acclaimed actor looked back on the early years of her career, sharing how the purity of her struggles continues to shape the way she approaches her craft today.
Looking back at the beginning of her journey, Parvathy said, “My struggling days were the best years of my life because I showed up with complete sincerity. There was a kind of purity in the way I approached my performances.” She admitted that as success arrived, it also brought an overwhelming amount of attention that she wasn’t prepared for. “There was suddenly a lot of noise from outside. I remember putting my phone under a pillow and leaving the house because it just wouldn’t stop ringing, and I didn’t know how to deal with that” she recalled.
The actor went on to explain that she eventually learned to separate public recognition from her identity as an artist. “I realized I needed to separate the attention and the spotlight from who I am as an actor, the person who is living life and practicing the craft for myself first. Everything else comes later” she said, adding that the process became “a form of meditation” that helped her stay grounded while navigating the highs of her career.
Speaking about where she stands today, Parvathy shared that she no longer sees failure as something to fear. “I can’t wait to fail, not because I want to fail, but because I don’t want to carry the burden of other people’s expectations that I must succeed” she said, adding, “The only person who has the right to place that expectation on me is myself. Nobody else.”
