Sawan, also known as Shravan Maas, has commenced. The devotees worship Lord Shiva and pray to Goddess Parvati and observe fast to seek blessings. &TV actors discuss the significance of this sacred month and share their reasons for observing fast during Sawan Somwar. These include Ashutosh Kulkarni (Krishan Bihari Vajpayee, Atal), Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Ashutosh Kulkarni, known as Krishan Bihari Vajpayee in Atal, shares, “Observing fast throughout the month of Sawan is considered highly auspicious.

This sacred practice involves waking up early in the morning, visiting Lord Shiva’s temple, and offering Panchamrut—a mixture of milk, ghee, yoghurt, Ganga Jal (water from the Ganges), and honey—along with Bilva leaves. This ritual is observed throughout the revered month of Shravan. During this period, those fasting may consume milk and dairy products, fruits, and other permissible items. In addition to worshipping Lord Shiva, devotees also pay homage to Goddess Parvati, seeking a life filled with peace, prosperity, and success. It is believed that observing fasts on Mondays during the month of Sawan brings divine blessings.” Geetanjali Mishra, aka Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “Observing Sawan Somwar has been a spiritual journey for me, one that I hold close to my heart. As a Lord Shiva devotee, this month of Shravan brings immense peace and positivity into my life. Each Monday, I wake up early in the morning, filled with devotion, and head to the temple of Lord Shiva. Offering Panchamrut, a sacred mixture of milk, ghee, yoghurt, Ganga Jal, and honey, along with Bilva leaves, feels like a divine connection to the Almighty. During Sawan, I adhere to fasting. This practice not only purifies my body but also my soul, allowing me to focus on my spiritual growth and inner peace. Worshipping Lord Shiva and paying homage to Goddess Parvati during this sacred month fills me with a sense of tranquility. Observing these fasts has become a cherished tradition in my life, and I genuinely believe in the divine blessings they bring. Sawan Somwar is a time of reflection, devotion, and seeking Lord Shiva’s guidance and blessings. For me, it’s a month of spiritual rejuvenation and a reminder of the eternal bond between the devotee and the divine.” Shubhangi Atre, also known as Angoori Bhabi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “As an actor, my life is filled with busy schedules and constant movement, but Sawan Somwar provides a sense of calmness. Fasting and performing the rituals, such as abhishekam with milk and water, and offering bel leaves, allow me to step back from the chaos and immerse myself in spirituality. This practice not only strengthens my faith but also rejuvenates my soul, providing clarity and inner peace. The essence of Sawan Somwar goes beyond mere rituals for me; it’s a time of introspection and gratitude. I use this period to reflect on my journey, express my thankfulness for the blessings in my life, and seek strength and guidance from Lord Shiva. It’s a reminder of the values of patience, humility, and devotion that I strive to uphold in my daily life.”
