The 6th edition of the Chile & NFDC Film Festival came to a beautiful and memorable close today, celebrating the magic of cinema as a universal language. Over the past five days, this extraordinary collaboration between Chile and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has bridged cultures, proving that while languages may differ, the emotions woven into storytelling remain the same.
The closing ceremony, gracefully anchored by Ms. Jayita Ghosh, Manager of NFDC and NMIC, was an evening filled with heartfelt moments and artistic appreciation. As a token of love and respect, Mr. Gustavo Gonzalez, Consul General of Chile, and Mr. Jorge López Sotomayor, Director of El Último Grumete, were felicitated by Mr. D. Ramakrishnan, General Manager of NFDC, ahead of the film screening.
Reflecting on the festival’s success, Mr. Ramakrishnan shared, “Cinema has the power to unite—our words may be different, but the emotions we share are universal. This festival has once again proven that storytelling transcends borders.”
Mr. Gustavo Gonzalez, moved by the festival’s warmth and enthusiasm, expressed, “This partnership with NFDC marks a beautiful journey. Chile and India may be separated by distance, but our shared love for cinema brings us closer. I look forward to many more such collaborations.” Adding a poetic touch to the evening, his wife recited a moving poem inspired by the film To Say The Voice, leaving the audience captivated by her heartfelt words.
Mr. Jorge López Sotomayor, deeply touched by the experience, shared, “India’s energy, hospitality, and passion for cinema have left a lasting impression on me. This journey has been incredibly special, and I take back memories I will cherish forever.” He also gave a glimpse into his upcoming film, Conquerors of Antarctica, the much-anticipated second chapter to El Último Grumete.
Bringing the evening to a poetic close, Ms. Jayita Ghosh beautifully summed up the festival’s essence: “At NMIC, every visitor takes home more than just the experience of watching a film—they carry memories that last a lifetime.”
With a promise to continue this cinematic journey, the Chile & NFDC Film Festival 2025 signed off, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, storytelling, and artistic celebration.
