Former North Mumbai MP Gopal Shetty has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He has demanded strict action against builders who give keys to residents in new SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) buildings before getting an Occupation Certificate (OC).

In his letter, Gopal Shetty mentioned that the court was very angry because thousands of buildings in Mumbai do not have an OC. After the BJP raised this issue, the administration took action, which gave some relief to the people of Mumbai. However, he said we still need to find the real root of the problem.
He asked the government to set up a high-level team to find out why these OCs are being blocked or delayed. He noted that because of some corrupt officers, selfish people, and political interference, many buildings are not getting their OCs. This shows a big problem in the system, not just lazy officers.

He added that it is very sad that poor people living in 300-square-foot SRA homes are not getting their OCs. By law, a builder must get the OC for the SRA building as soon as it is finished, and before they finish the building meant for sale. The government must force officers to give these certificates on time. Otherwise, even if the builder finishes the work, corrupt people will keep delaying it. To stop this, the government needs a strict and transparent policy.

At the end of the letter, Gopal Shetty wrote:
“I request you to quickly set up a team of experts to investigate this matter. Take strict action against the wrongdoers and create a strong system so that no one dares to break government rules in the future.”
