Alibaug: The trailer launch of the highly anticipated film ‘Krantijyoti Vidyalaya – Marathi Medium’ took place recently in a unique and emotional setting. Steering away from typical hotel ballrooms, the makers unveiled the trailer at the Nagaon Marathi School in Alibaug—the very location where the film was shot.
Surrounded by classrooms, wooden benches, blackboards, and the school playground, the cast and crew relived their shooting memories, turning the event into a nostalgic journey back to school.
A Story of Friendship and Saving a Legacy
The film tackles the sensitive and relevant issue of the survival of Marathi medium schools, presented through an entertaining narrative. The trailer depicts a Marathi school on the verge of closure, prompting its alumni to return years later. United by a common cause, these former students stand shoulder-to-shoulder to save their alma mater.
Packed with nostalgia, the trailer reconnects the audience with the innocence of school life—the mischief, deep friendships, strict teachers, punishments, and carefree moments. While the film is humorous and entertaining, it poignantly highlights the importance of Marathi language and education.
Director’s Vision
Speaking at the event, Director Hemant Dhome said, “The decline of Marathi schools in Maharashtra is a reality. Against this backdrop, we have tried to tell a story that is funny, emotional, and grounded in reality. Launching the trailer at the very school where we shot the film was a special experience for us. I am confident that watching this film will remind the audience of their own school days and underscore the importance of Marathi schools.”
