In Indian food culture, curry leaves hold a unique and irreplaceable significance. Now, their aroma has spread from Marathi cinema to the hearts of the audience with the upcoming Marathi film “Kadhipatta.” From its intriguing title to its fresh lead pair, the film has been in the limelight. After creating curiosity with posters and the first look, the makers have now released the teaser of “Kadhipatta.” True to its name, the teaser has been called “spicy” by netizens. Within a short span, it has successfully heightened curiosity among viewers. The film is set to release across Maharashtra on November 7.
“Kadhipatta” is presented by Yuvan Productions and produced by Swapnil Yuvraj Marathe. Director Vishwa has not only helmed the film but also written the story. The teaser offers a glimpse of a unique love story. In Maharashtrian folk culture, “Ukhaana” (playful poetic verses recited in weddings) hold a special importance. Especially during weddings, women traditionally recite them first, followed by men. Interestingly, in “Kadhipatta,” the teaser begins with the hero reciting an ukhaana: “Marriages are tied in heaven, today I take Mira’s name for my verse.” The heroine then follows with her own: “In heaven’s witness, I promise my wedding vow, Lalit is my beloved, my jaaneman.” However, the teaser ends with a shocking twist—this very love story leads to divorce. What happens in between, forcing them to take such an extreme step, is the question that lingers, making audiences curious about the film.
Actor Bhushan Patil plays the male lead, while actress Riddhi Kumar, who has found success in South Indian cinema, makes her Marathi debut with this film. Together, they bring a refreshing new chemistry to the screen. The story explores the lives of a modern couple—their mindset, emotions, lifestyle, choices, decision-making, relationships and expectations from each other. The makers believe that this unique love story will appeal to audiences across all age groups.
The cast also includes Sanjay Mone, Shubhangi Gokhale, Akshay Tanksale, Gargi Phule, Gauri Sukhatankar, Sanika Kashikar, Nisha Mane, along with guest appearances by Anand Ingale, Ananda Karekar, and Chetna Bhatt. Cinematography is by Aniket Khandagale and the film will be distributed by Cinepolis.
The soundtrack will be released under the Himesh Reshammiya Melodies label. Lyrics are penned by Mandar Cholkar, Mukund Bhalerao, and Vinu Sangwan, while music is composed by Padmanabh Gaikwad and Ashish Khandal. Costume design is by Pallavi Patil and Gargi Patil, with makeup by Kiran Sawant. Background score is composed by Tanmay Bhide, and editing is by Rishiraj Joshi. Vishal Chavan is the executive producer, while Samyukta Subhash serves as the project head.
