The true identity of any successful doctor is not defined merely by his medical skills, but through the stories and struggles of his patients. When a patient’s life hangs by a thread, every doctor treating them undergoes a new test of endurance and conviction. Only when he passes that test can he stand tall — with an upright spine. ‘Tath Kana’ tells the inspiring story of one such passionate and research-driven doctor. Based on the life of Dr. Premanand Ramani, this film is set to hit theatres on November 28. Produced by Vijay Mudshingikar under Pragya Creations and Karan Rawat of Spring Summer Films, the film is written by Shrikant Bojewar and directed by Girish Mohite.
This is a gripping, real-life story of Dr. P. S. Ramani, a world-renowned neurosurgeon who, even at the age of 86, continues to perform surgeries in the operation theatre every single day.
Despite growing up in extremely challenging conditions, Dr. Ramani pursued his dream of becoming a doctor. While studying abroad, he faced a major allegation that could have ruined his career, but he came out unscathed. Turning down a lucrative job overseas, he returned to India to serve his country. Battling hatred, jealousy, and mistrust, he dedicated his life to strengthening the spines—both literally and metaphorically—of countless patients. But one day, his research was put to the ultimate test, and all fingers were pointed at him. At the same time, a call from ‘Prema’ forced him to take on yet another life-altering challenge.
While treating others’ spines, he had to balance his own — between his research, people’s trust, and his wife’s emotional turmoil. Eventually, he stepped into the operation theatre once again… What happened next forms the heart of this stirring saga of struggle, determination, and love — ‘Tath Kana’.
The film stars Umesh Kamat, Deepti Devi, Sayali Sanjeev, Suyog Gorhe, Ajit Bhure, Shailesh Datar, Anupama Takmoghe, Ravi Gosai, and Sanjeev Jotangia in key roles.
The cinematography is by Krishnakumar Soren, editing by Nilesh Gavand, and art direction by Mahesh Kudalkar. Music is composed by Avinash-Vishwajeet, with Prashant Pawar serving as executive producer and Jitendra Bhosale as production controller.
