From the outside, Apporva Aka Rebel Kid seemed to have it all — a successful career, a massive digital following, financial independence, travel, friendships and a profession many would dream of having. But behind that seemingly perfect life, Apoorva says she felt “empty, demotivated, stuck” and as though she was living the same day on repeat.
In a deeply personal Reel, Apoorva has opened up about what pushed her to make one of the biggest decisions of her life — leaving India and starting over in New York.
“I had absolutely no control over my own life,” she says, explaining that she eventually realised something had to change. Her answer was to change everything — leaving behind the place she called home, saying goodbye to the people she loved, packing her life into three suitcases and boarding a one-way flight to New York, where she knew no one.
The move, however, is not just about starting afresh. Apoorva has moved to New York to pursue an MBA, with the larger goal of understanding the business and entrepreneurship world beyond the creator ecosystem she has spent years building her career in. Having built a successful personal brand herself, she now wants to learn the business side of building something — with ambitions of eventually creating a venture of her own.
While the move may look brave from the outside, Apoorva admits she felt anything but fearless. Walking away from a career she had built at its peak meant choosing uncertainty over the comfort of what she already knew.
In the video Apoorva also traces that confidence back to her journey from Shahbad Markanda in Haryana. With no industry connections or family friends, she says she still managed to turn her ambitions into reality.
“I have what most people don’t. Sheer belief that I will figure it out,” she says.
Her New York chapter is therefore less about walking away from success and more about challenging herself to build what comes next. After establishing herself as a creator and entertainment personality, Apoorva is now stepping into a new world — learning, experimenting and preparing herself for a future that could extend well beyond content creation.
She may not have every detail figured out yet. But that, perhaps, is the point.
For now, Apoorva is choosing to bet on herself — and see where that bet takes her.
