Emphasizing the event’s cultural significance, the Deputy Chief Minister called Mahakumbh a living symbol of India’s spiritual consciousness and cultural harmony. He expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring this Mahakumbh surpasses all previous editions in magnificence, with unparalleled facilities and international participation.
“Many of you witnessed the divine experience of the Prayagraj Kumbh in 2019, a landmark event celebrated worldwide for its exemplary management,” he said. “The upcoming Mahakumbh will build on that legacy, offering an even grander and more divine experience.” Over 450 million pilgrims, saints, ascetics, and tourists are expected, and meticulous planning is underway to ensure seamless arrangements.
Mahakumbh 2025: A Global Cultural Heritage Event
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that the Mahakumbh, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, will take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025, at the confluence of the sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.
Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the event will resonate with the essence of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, Samaveshi Bharat’ (One India, Great India, Inclusive India). It will exemplify the state’s commitment to preserving and showcasing India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions.

Eco-Friendly and Technologically Advanced Mahakumbh
Deputy Chief Minister Pathak elaborated on the government’s sustainable initiatives to make Mahakumbh 2025 clean, healthy, safe, and green. Measures include:
A single-use plastic-free event, supported by widespread awareness campaigns.
Allocation of dona-pattal vendors and community engagement programs involving 400 schools and 4 lakh students.
Massive tree plantation efforts, with over 3 lakh plants cultivated to enhance Prayagraj’s greenery.
Healthcare Excellence: Specialized healthcare services will be provided for all attendees, including 24-hour hospital facilities, dedicated ICUs, and a team of over 291 MBBS doctors and specialists. Separate wards, emergency rooms, and delivery facilities will be available for men, women, and children.
A Digital Mahakumbh Experience
The Deputy Chief Minister introduced cutting-edge technologies to enhance the pilgrim experience:
A dedicated website and app with an AI-powered chatbot in 11 languages.
QR-based passes, multilingual lost-and-found centers, and drone surveillance for safety.
Smart parking facilities accommodating up to 5 lakh vehicles daily, monitored via an Integrated Command Center.
Real-time project monitoring and advanced systems for inventory tracking and crowd management.
Revamped Infrastructure for Pilgrims
The government has prioritized infrastructure upgrades:
Construction of nine new ghats, increasing the total to 44 for a seamless bathing experience.
A 15.25-kilometer riverfront, modeled after Mumbai’s Marine Drive, developed for scenic beauty and convenience.
Aerial flower showers across all ghats to create a divine atmosphere.
Innovative Crowd Management Techniques
Three advanced methods will efficiently manage the record-breaking attendance of 450 million pilgrims:
1. Attribute-Based Search Cameras to track individual movements.
2. RFID Wristbands for seamless entry and exit tracking.
3. Mobile App GPS Tracking (with consent) to ensure safety and convenience.

A Symbol of India’s Cultural Unity
The event stands as a testament to India’s unity in diversity. Minister of Fisheries Sanjay Nishad beautifully summarized the spirit of Mahakumbh: “This festival transcends all differences, disputes, and divisions, fostering harmony and unity. It is a sacred convergence of India’s cultural, spiritual, and traditional heritage.”
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is proudly presenting this grand celebration to the world. Invitations are being extended nationwide and globally, urging everyone to participate in this extraordinary pilgrimage.
