(‘Z’), leading content and technology powerhouse, proudly announces the launch of Zee WRITERS ROOM – a landmark initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing young, emerging screenwriting talent across the country. Zee WRITERS ROOM is more than just a talent hunt—it is a creative movement aligned with the Company’s brand philosophy, ‘Yours Truly, Z’ with an aim to enhance its content offering across platforms. At a time when fresh perspectives are in high demand, the initiative aspires to bridge the gap between raw storytelling potential and the professional world of screenwriting, offering selected writers the opportunity to craft stories across ‘Z’s extensive TV, Digital, and film platforms.
Spearheaded by ‘Z’s central content and regional teams, the initiative is designed to connect untapped talent with the evolving needs of India’s entertainment landscape. The initiative of Zee WRITERS ROOM was announced with an exciting and engaging brand film in seven Indian languages championing a singular vision of “opening the doorway of opportunities to the writers of tomorrow – STORIES. Curated for writers who already possess a creative spark—whether self-taught or formally trained— Zee WRITERS ROOM welcomes talent that may have shown promise in college festivals, writing clubs, or digital platforms but haven’t yet made inroads into the industry. This initiative is not designed to teach the basics of writing, but to refine and elevate promising talent into professionally ready screenwriters.
These 70 new writers and 30 emerging experts will be groomed into an idea-generation engine, transforming story seeds and conceptual spaces into compelling new worlds, character arcs, and narrative structures for ‘Z’s content across TV, OTT, and Films. • Written Test: Registered participants attend a selection event and give a test
• Evaluation of the Submission: A reading committee shortlists the top 10% based on writing merit
• Interview Process: Finalists are assessed by an industry panel
• Onboarding to the Zee WRITERS ROOM: The top 100 will be inducted into the Zee WRITERS ROOM, where they will develop story ideas under expert guidance.
