Uttar Mumbai MP & Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal on Saturday visited Shatabdi Hospital on S.V. Road in Kandivali West and inaugurated several advanced medical equipment to enhance healthcare services and improve treatment facilities for patients. The initiative is part of Goyal’s continued efforts to upgrade public healthcare infrastructure and ensure better medical services for citizens in Uttar Mumbai.

During the visit, Goyal interacted with doctors, nurses, hospital staff and civic representatives and emphasised the importance of maintaining patients service, cleanliness, discipline and consistent quality standards in hospitals. He said that hospitals must ensure regular hygiene and patient-focused services rather than temporary arrangements during visits.

Goyal informed that officials from the Quality Council of India (QCI) had conducted a detailed three-month assessment of the hospital to evaluate the facilities required for NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) certification. Based on the study, a comprehensive report and gap analysis has been prepared to help Shatabdi Hospital move towards NABH accreditation.

He informed that Shatabdi Hospital is expected to become the first government hospital in Maharashtra to receive NABH accreditation, setting a benchmark for quality standards in public healthcare.

During the programme, the following modern medical equipments were inaugurated to strengthen treatment facilities at the hospital:

Newly Inaugurated Medical Equipment

Anesthesia Workstation

An anesthesia workstation is used during surgical procedures to administer anesthesia, maintain breathing, monitor the patient’s condition and ensure safety throughout the operation.

Digital C-Arm Machine

The digital C-arm machine provides real-time fluoroscopic imaging that helps doctors accurately guide diagnostic and surgical procedures, especially in orthopedic and trauma cases.

Neonatal Ventilators

Neonatal ventilators provide controlled breathing support to newborn babies suffering from respiratory distress, breathing difficulties or immature lungs, helping improve survival rates for critical newborn cases.

Goyal noted that neonatal ventilators are particularly important in cases where newborn babies require immediate respiratory support after birth.

He also highlighted the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) support from private companies that helped provide modern equipment for the hospital.

Speaking about India’s progress in medical technology, Goyal said the country is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in medical equipment manufacturing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also appreciated the contribution of medical technology expert Dr. Jitendra Sharma, who has been involved in developing medical equipment manufacturing initiatives in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Goyal praised the dedication of doctors, nurses and hospital staff who continue to serve patients despite heavy workload and limited resources.

“Our goal is to ensure that citizens of Uttar Mumbai receive quality healthcare facilities in government hospitals. If more equipment or support is required in the future, we will make every effort to provide it,” he said.

Local civic representatives and hospital authorities also expressed their commitment to implementing the recommendations made in the QCI assessment report and improving hospital infrastructure and services.

Goyal concluded by saying that collective efforts of the administration, medical professionals and civic representatives will help transform Shatabdi Hospital into a model government healthcare institution in Maharashtra.
