Ratnagiri, September 24, 2024:
Residents of Nivendi village in Ratnagiri district have been living without mobile network connectivity for the past four years. Despite promises from BSNL, the government telecom provider, the village remains cut off from reliable communication. A mobile tower was erected in the area, but it has yet to be activated, leaving the village in a communication dead zone.
Villagers have expressed their frustration over the delay, highlighting how the lack of connectivity affects essential services, including access to emergency healthcare, online education, and other modern conveniences. Many in the village are heavily dependent on mobile networks for day-to-day tasks, making this a significant setback in their daily lives.
BSNL had assured residents that the tower would be operational soon, yet no progress has been made. Villagers are now calling on local authorities to take swift action and ensure the activation of the network tower.
“We’ve waited long enough. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage without a network. We urge the government and BSNL to act on their promises,” said one of the village elders.
The lack of mobile connectivity has also impacted businesses and farmers in the region, who depend on timely updates regarding weather and market prices. Nivendi remains hopeful that BSNL will fulfill its commitment and bring the village back online, connecting it with the rest of the world.
