Pranav Birje | The News Bulletins

Suyog Shigmotsav Mandal, Adpai-Agapur – The mandal has achieved remarkable success in the Romtamel competitions of Shigmotsav 2026. This year, by participating in a total of 18 competitions across Goa, the mandal earned the distinction of taking part in the highest number of competitions compared to any other group. Notably, in some instances, the mandal even participated in two competitions on the same day and delivered outstanding performances.

In these competitions, the mandal secured First (🥇) prizes at Cortalim, Calangute, Curchorem, Mapusa, Sankhali, Porvorim, Cuncolim, Pernem, and Ponda. It also won Second (🥈) prizes at Panaji, Margao, Bicholim, Vasco, Mandrem, and Sanguem. Additionally, the mandal achieved a Third (🥉) prize at Dharbandora and Fourth (🎖️) prizes at Shiroda and Valpoi. In total, the mandal won 9 First, 6 Second, 1 Third, and 2 Fourth prizes.
With this grand achievement, the mandal has been honored with the prestigious title of “Romtamel Champions 2026.” Furthermore, over the past 11 years, the mandal has created history by winning the championship title 7 times, including in the years 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The unique and attractive “Shigmyachi Jat” presented by the mandal every year has consistently captured the audience’s attention. Inspired by their innovative performances, other mandals have also begun incorporating similar elements into their presentations.

Despite the Tourism Department suggesting more than 50 names for judges this year, some committees selected the same judges repeatedly, which led to several challenges for the mandal. Many competitions saw repetition of judges; however, overcoming all these difficulties, the mandal successfully achieved this milestone.
The credit for this success goes to the mandal’s guide and master, Mr. Vignesh Govind Naik, whose leadership made this achievement possible. The mandal has also dedicated this success to its beloved late members, Mr. Brahmanand (Bhai) Naik and Mr. Saish Adpaikar.

This success is the result of the relentless efforts, dedication, and unity of all the members of the mandal. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to all artists, mandal committee, and every individual who contributed to this achievement.
