Pranav Birje | The News Bulletins
Marathi cinema has a knack for making relationship dramas feel personal, often giving voice to the unspoken feelings we carry. ‘Maya’ seems to follow this tradition, weaving a story that is as much about the audience as it is about the characters.

The Core Conflict: Loneliness vs. Abandonment
The trailer poses a poignant question: Does a person truly fear being alone, or is it the feeling of being orphaned/abandoned that haunts them? It explores the emotional journey of people drifting apart due to misunderstandings and long-held grudges. More importantly, it highlights the need for emotional liberation and meaningful dialogue to move forward in life.

Powerhouse Performances
The film features a stellar ensemble cast, each bringing a unique layer to the narrative:
Siddharth Chandekar: Plays a ‘House Father’—a man deeply devoted to his daughter but somewhat detached from his own inner emotions.
Mukta Barve: Portrays a woman standing at a crossroads, searching for answers to her own life’s questions.
Vijay Kenkre & Rohini Hattangadi: Provide stability and a sense of reality to the story with their seasoned presence.
Girish Oak: Adds a layer of mystery and gravity, portraying internal conflict and the “walls” people build around themselves after unspoken traumas.

Silence Speaks Louder Than Words
A standout feature of the trailer is its reliance on silence, glances, and atmosphere rather than heavy dialogue. The cinematography and pacing allow the gravity of the situations to settle in the viewer’s mind. While the ending of the trailer feels hopeful, it leaves several questions unanswered—answers that will only be found on the big screen.
Director’s Vision
Director Aditya Ingale shared his thoughts on the project:
“In ‘Maya,’ we have tried to bring the hidden, unexpressed emotions of every individual to the screen. Some relationships we cherish, while others break unknowingly. However, every relationship leaves us with something valuable. We want to show that no matter how dark the shadows of the past are, a new journey is possible through communication and a compassionate touch.”
