On July 30, 2014, a massive landslide struck Malin village in the Ambegaon taluka of Pune district. More than 150 people lost their lives, and hundreds were injured in this catastrophe. Based on this very disaster, the heart-wrenching and spine-chilling terror of the Malin tragedy is now set to unfold on the big screen in the upcoming movie “Ek Hota Malin” on July 24. State-of-the-art technology, a grand set replication of Malin village, and a powerful script are the key highlights of this film. The poster and motion poster of the movie were recently launched on social media.

The film is produced by Santosh Jagannath Mhatre under the banner of Dream Dot Creation Production, with Rupesh Rane, Arun Konje, Datta Gaikar, and Raju Rane serving as co-producers. Ran Studios Production’s Nandu Meher, Rupesh Rane, Arun Konje, and Raju Rane have presented the film. The concept, story, and screenplay are by Raju Rane, while Dattatray Gaikar and Raju Rane have handled the writing, dialogues, and direction. The film features an ensemble cast in lead roles, including Prashant Mohite, Ashwini Kasar, Abhijit Shwetchandra, Siddhi Patne, Anil Nagarkar, Prashant Tapasvi, Ramchandra Dhumal, Akshay Mhatre, Deepjyoti Naik, and Anuj Thackeray. Raja Phadtare is the cinematographer, Yuvraj Gongle has penned the lyrics and composed the music, and the songs have been sung by Ajay Gogavale, Javed Ali, Anandi Joshi, and Haridas Shinde. Nitesh Nandgaonkar is the art director, Rahman Abdullah handled the VFX, and Mahesh Bharambe is the executive producer.

The landslide, triggered by heavy torrential rains, caused a massive loss of life and property. An entire village vanished into thin air that morning. Against the backdrop of this horrific tragedy, the audience will get to experience a deeply touching yet thrilling narrative. A strong script, powerful actors, excellent VFX, and soulful music are the core strengths of this film. Marathi cinema is known for bringing exceptionally great stories to the audience, and “Ek Hota Malin” is set to be a significant addition to that legacy. Notably, filmmaker Raju Rane wrote the screenplay after interacting directly with the villagers of Malin to gather accurate facts. This highly anticipated film, crafted with immense hard work by a fresh and energetic team, is finally arriving in theaters for the audience on July 24.
