The glamour and anticipation surrounding Global India Couture Week (GICW) Season 6 reached new heights as aspiring models gathered at the iconic NESCO Centre, Goregaon East, for the much-awaited walk-in auditions. Known for setting the gold standard in Indian luxury fashion, GICW once again reaffirmed its commitment to discovering raw, runway-ready talent from across the nation. The event is spearheaded by Satyajit Mohanty, Managing Director and Dr. Sidhharth Behera, Director of Operations, whose visionary leadership continues to elevate GICW’s reputation on both national and international platforms.Adding to the excitement, acclaimed actress Lekha Prajapati graced the event as a distinguished member of the jury panel, bringing her keen eye for talent and industry expertise to the selection process.
With an overwhelming turnout of 200 participants from various corners of India, the auditions unfolded in two dynamic rounds first with male aspirants showcasing their runway finesse, followed by an equally high-energy ramp walk by female contestants. The energy was electric, the competition fierce, and only a select few made it through the rigorous selection process. Each participant was evaluated not only on physical attributes and confidence but also on poise, personality, and their ability to embody the essence of couture. The final selections reflect GICW’s unwavering dedication to quality and excellence.
The auditions were judged by an esteemed panel of industry veterans, each bringing their own perspective and experience. Among them were actress and model Lekha Prajapati, supermodel Deepti Gujral, actor and host Karan Singh Chhabra, and show director Shakir Shaikh. To make the event even more exciting, renowned designers Ken Ferns and Sabyasachi Satpathy gave the audience an exclusive sneak peek into their upcoming collections. In a special teaser showcase, select models were styled in signature looks from both designers, giving everyone a taste of the stunning pieces they can expect at the main event. The mini presentation not only built anticipation but also set the tone for the fashion spectacle ahead.
A standout moment came from Lekha Prajapati, who shared an inspiring message with the aspiring models: “In a world dominated by social media, it’s easy to lose sight of who you are. Always hold on to your individuality that’s what truly sets you apart.” Echoing the spirit of creativity and scale, Shakir Shaikh, the show’s director, added: “Every designer we work with has a story woven into every line of their collection and each time, that story only gets bigger and more powerful. That’s what GICW is known for: scale, vision, and production that pushes boundaries. With NESCO as the venue this season, we’re set to create a show that’s not just grand but our biggest and best yet.” Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sidhharth Behera,Director Operations of GICW, remarked: “We’re not just taking India to the world, we’re bringing the world to India! Transforming it into a global destination for fashion, culture, and creativity.”
GICW has long been synonymous with grandeur, innovation, and heritage, and as Season 6 approaches, the runway promises to be more spectacular than ever. In partnership with the International Fashion Design Council (IFDC), the show is set to bring together emerging talent and established designers, making it an even more exciting affair.
