• 600+ Fearless ‘Nidar Naaris’ Join the Walkathon to Support Women’s Health
Mumbai, 04 March 2026: MOC Cancer Care & Research Centre (M|O|C Vile Parle), as part of its Nidar Naari initiative, successfully organised the “Women’s Walkathon – One Step Towards Health” on March 1, 2026, at 6:30 am at Utkarsha Mandal, Vile Parle. Held in collaboration with Utkarsha Mandal, the walkathon commenced and concluded at the same venue and witnessed participation from over 600 women, including healthy individuals and women cancer survivors, came together to promote preventive healthcare and early detection.
The walkathon was conceptualised to encourage women to prioritise their health through regular screenings, timely diagnosis, and sustained wellness practices. By bringing survivors and healthy women onto one platform, the event highlighted resilience, awareness, and the importance of community support in the journey of cancer care and survivorship. The early morning gathering created a powerful visual of solidarity, reinforcing the message that proactive healthcare can significantly improve outcomes and quality of life.
The event was graced by eminent medical professionals Dr. Kshitij Joshi, Dr. Sanjeevani Rajwade, and Dr. Alka Mandke, who addressed participants and emphasised the need for a cultural shift where women’s health became a non-negotiable priority.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kshitij Joshi said, “The overwhelming participation at today’s walkathon reflects a growing awareness among women about the importance of preventive healthcare. Through Nidar Naari, our goal is to ensure that women feel empowered to prioritise their health, express their symptoms without bothering about the social stigma, societal judgements, fear of diagnosis and subsequent implications, regular screenings and early detection. Taking even one step towards health can make a significant difference in outcomes and long-term wellbeing.”
Nidar Naari is a women-focused movement initiated by M|O|C Cancer Care & Research Centre to normalise conversations around cervical health and encourage timely screening. The initiative aims to empower women to report symptoms early, opt for regular screenings such as Pap smears, and support HPV vaccination for young girls. Through community outreach and awareness programmes, M|O|C is strengthening its focus on preventive oncology and ensuring that women prioritise their health without fear, stigma, or hesitation.
Utkarsh Mandal in Vile Parle is a well-known NGO that works for community-based health services since 1964. Dr Sanjivani Rajwade, is a leading Ayurvedic physician in Vile Parle and an active member of Utkarsh Mandal who was actively involved and served as a guiding force in organizing the walkathon.
The successful completion of the Women’s Walkathon marks another milestone in M|O|C Cancer Care & Research Centre’s continued commitment to community outreach, cancer awareness, and comprehensive women-centric healthcare.
