The legendary Bharatmata Cinema, a witness to the golden era of Marathi cinema, has reopened its doors in a grand new avatar after six years. The honor of being the first film screened at this revamped historic venue went to Zee Studios’ highly anticipated Marathi film, ‘Super Duper’. To mark this historic occasion, a spectacular premiere was held in a traditional and high-spirited Maharashtrian style.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with the thunderous beats of Dhol-Tasha. It wasn’t just a movie premiere; it felt like a celebration of Marathi culture. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Adv. Ashish Shelar (State Minister for Cultural Affairs), Prashant Sajanikar (Co-Managing Director of Film City Corporation), Umesh Kumar Bansal (CBO, Zee Studios), and Bavesh Janavlekar (Business Head, Zee Studios Marathi), along with the film’s cast, crew, and producers Vijay Shinde and Naresh Borde.
Heartfelt Tributes and Wishes
Adv. Ashish Shelar shared an emotional connection, saying:
“Bharatmata is like my maternal home; I have so many emotional memories here. It’s not just a theater; it’s a living treasure of memories for generations. I thank Zee Studios for choosing this venue for their premiere. Running a single-screen theater is tough, so I appeal to the Marathi audience to support this iconic place.”
Director Sameer Asha Patil praised the Minister’s initiatives for the Marathi entertainment industry and expressed confidence that ‘Super Duper‘ would be a massive hit, bringing joy and love to the audience.
Bavesh Janavlekar of Zee Studios Marathi added:
“When the chance to premiere our film at Bharatmata came up, we didn’t want to miss it. This theater has shaped the history of Marathi cinema, and we believe ‘Super Duper‘ will create its own history here.”
Veteran actress Nirmiti Sawant, who grew up in the nearby BDD Chawls, called it a “homecoming.” She expressed her pride in seeing her film reopen a theater where she spent her childhood watching movies.
