“Sangeet Manapman” to Bring the Golden Age of Marathi Theatre to Life on the Big Screen
The golden age of Marathi theatre, which began 114 years ago, is set to mesmerize audiences once again through the highly anticipated film “Sangeet Manapman”. Directed by the celebrated actor-director Subodh Bhave, the film will release across Maharashtra on January 10.
Adding to the excitement, Ratnagiri-based actor Rishiraj Kishore Dhundur plays a significant supporting role in the film. Esteemed music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have composed the soundtrack, while Deepali Vichare and Subhash Nakashe have skillfully choreographed the dance sequences. Speaking about his experience, Rishiraj shared that he had the privilege of working with many veteran artists during the 20-25 days of shooting and received invaluable guidance from Subodh Bhave.
Expressing his gratitude, Rishiraj credited casting directors Rohan Mapuskar and Sushil Mahadev for giving him this opportunity. “After years of continuous struggle in the field of acting, this project feels like a dream come true,” he said.

A Journey from Jaigad to the Silver Screen
Rishiraj revealed his passion for acting, singing, and dancing began in childhood. What started as a hobby turned into a career, beginning with a friendship gathering at the Jaigad temple. Under the mentorship of Pradeep Shivgan and Dr. Shashank Patil of the Ramesh Kir Kala Academy, he honed his craft through one-act plays, festivals, professional competition dramas, short films, and web series like Konkantalya Jhakanya and Divyang 1/2. This journey eventually led him to this major project, produced by Geo Studio and Shri Ganesh Marketing.
A Message to Aspiring Artists
Rishiraj emphasized the importance of introducing children from rural areas to acting, music, and dance alongside school education. “This will prepare future artists and technicians without fear of entering this field,” he said, adding, “There is still so much more to achieve—this is just the beginning.”
An Invitation to Celebrate Marathi Theatre
The film, releasing on January 10, will be screened across Maharashtra, including Ratnagiri. Actor Rishiraj Dhundur has appealed to everyone to watch this cinematic tribute to Marathi theatre’s golden era and support regional talent.
